A good client of mine,
Herrington Architects recently contacted me to photograph a project they completed. It is anticipated to be a Gold LEED certified multi-family home. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system developed by the
US Green Building Council. With two apartments, one downstairs and one upstairs the architect created a well thought out space for students or young professionals looking for a rental home near the university. Designers at a local Ethan Allen store staged the home making the interior great to photograph. Take a look...

I enjoyed shooting the exterior though I had no assistants this night. It took about 5 hours from arriving to finishing packing up for this one shot. It was a cold night also. I espessially like the way The View a private club atop Red Mountain is visible in the background.
I had a stylist and an assistant for the interior shots. I prefer shooting in the evenings at night and at dawn. I also prefer to see outside of the windows at dusk or dawn. Normally I can get one or two of those kind of shots in a day. One at dawn and one at dusk. Good interior photography isn't very efficient but it can be dramatic if you take the pains to do it right.
I was told this project owned by
Herrington Architects and offered for rent by them is anticipated to be the first Gold LEED certified multi-family home in Birmingham though I am not certain of that.
Until next time...
